The central concepts of the Center

Center for International Preventive Medicine, which operates the “Internationalization Project of Preventive Medicine”, aims to contribute to the development of research and education in preventive medicine and is working under five concepts.

Request for cooperation in clinical research

In our center, in addition to provide advanced medical examinations, we will utilize the accumulated data for the further development of preventive medicine. For more details of clinical studies, please see below. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

In addition to conducting medical examination services to maintain and promote the overall health of examinees throughout their lives, Center for International Preventive Medicine conducts clinical researches with the aim of contributing to preventive medicine from a global perspective by investigating clinical information and test results obtained through examinations.

Research Topics

Retrospective non-interventional clinical research at Center for International Preventive Medicine

Research period

April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2026

Persons who are being studied

Individuals who were examined at our center between April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2026.

Objectives

The aims of study are to develop new diagnostic methods for various diseases, including lifestyle-related diseases, cardiovascular diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, and malignant tumors, to search for factors involved in prevention and progression control, to establish models for disease prevention and medical economics from a global perspective by comparing other countries with Japan, and to establish a model medical system for the international development of preventive medicine.

Methods

For statistical analysis, we will collect clinical information, physical examination, blood, urine and stool test results, and data from physiological, radiological, endoscopic and histopathological examinations. The research does not directly affect the health condition of examinees by not adding tests other than screening items.

Protection of Personal Information

In this study, the information and data of the examinees are strictly managed and analyzed in our center with a password-locked personal computer, omitting personal information that can identify the examinee, such as his or her name and this information will not leak to the outside.

Voluntariness of research cooperation and freedom to withdraw

If you do not wish your data to be used for this research, please contact us at the following address below within one year of your medical examination visit. If you do not contact us, we will assume that you have accepted our request. In case that you do not cooperate in research, you will not be disadvantaged.

Publication of research results

Research results may be published in academic conferences or academic journals in a form that is not personally identifiable. Results will be disclosed on a personal or overall basis upon personal inquiry.

Handling of materials after completion of research

Information and data collected in this research will be used only for this research under strict control and will be stored for five years after completion of the research.

Cost sharing

The cost of this research will be paid out of the delegated funds obtained at the center and will not be charged to the examinees. There is no honorarium for examinees.

Conflicts of interest

There are no conflicts of interest to be disclosed in connection with this research.

This research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Medicine (Review No. 2021012 NI・Date of approval: April 23, 2021) and was conducted with permission from the Director of the University of Tokyo Hospital.
